CPCI Centers of Excellence Consultant

In her role with TransforMED as a Centers of Excellence Consultant for the Tulsa Market, Laurie is part of the Comprehensive Primary Care initiative team.

For the past 7 years, Laurie has been working as the CEO of Community Health Connection, a Federally Qualified Health Center in Tulsa, growing the organization from its infancy to providing a Patient-Centered Medical Home to over 6000 patients per year at two different sites. Meaningful Use, PCMH, and many other quality initiatives were implemented by Ms. Paul during her tenure at Community Health Connection.

Laurie first worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner at the Martin Luther King Family Clinic in Dallas, TX where she was stationed for her National Health Service Corps Scholarship repayment. While in Dallas she started a Mobile Health Clinic Program, provided direct patient care to patients of all ages and worked on the center's quality initiatives as the Coordinator of their Risk Management Program. Upon returning to Tulsa she worked at the Tulsa Day Center for the Homeless where she provided direct patient care for the center's clients while also providing education on diabetes, smoking cessation, and health resources of all kinds including medication assistance.

Prior to becoming an Advanced Practice Nurse, Laurie worked many years as a public health nurse for the State of Oklahoma and a staff nurse in several hospitals mostly working in ICU and ERs. It was in the ICU that Laurie became interested in preventive health care, community health, population health and promoting quality in health care.

Laurie graduated from The University of Oklahoma-Health Science Center with a BSN in 1994 and her MS in 1996. She is a member and past president of the Oklahoma Nurse Practitioner Association, a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She is also a member of the Metro Tulsa Chamber of Commerce and the Tulsa Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, as well as many organizations and coalitions focusing on health care.
